Community Cleanup

  • Cambrian Heights Community Association 600 Northmount Drive Northwest Calgary, AB, T2K 3J5 Canada (map)

Join us for a community cleanup!

Dispose of unusable or broken household items easily and in the right way.

Each year, The City partners with community organizations and volunteers to host community cleanups helping residents dispose of items that don’t fit in the black cart supporting a cleaner, safer city. This year, we’ve partnered with the Rosemont Community Association to host a cleanup in our own neighbourhood.

Why participate?

Community cleanups bring residents together, build pride, and make it easier to dispose of unusable or broken household items the right way.

Available to volunteer for the cleanup? Email Bent at almostbroken20@gmail.com

Who can attend?

All Calgarians are welcome at any community cleanup, regardless of where they live. If you can’t make the event in your own neighbourhood, you can drop off items at another cleanup location. These events are for residential use only; we do not accept commercial or contractor waste.

When do they happen?

The 2026 community cleanups run city-wide from April 25 through September 27, with events scheduled on weekends.

The Cambrian Heights Community Cleanup is:

Date: Sunday, June 28

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Where: 600 Northmount Drive NW (in the parking lot)

Where to bring household hazardous waste

Did you know the City of Calgary offers free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) drop-off sites at 11 convenient locations across the city throughout the year? There’s no cost to use these locations, and they’re designed to be quick, easy, and safe for residents.

HHW includes everyday household items that should not go in your blue, green, or black cart, such as:

  • paints and stains

  • batteries

  • cleaners

  • automotive fluids and chemicals

Placing these items in your carts can increase the chance of fires, toxic fumes, and serious harm in our homes and our community. Taking HHW to a proper drop-off site helps keep everyone safe while protecting the environment.

Before throwing something away, take a moment to check if it’s hazardous—and bring it to an HHW drop-off site instead.

To find a drop-off location near you, visit calgary.ca/HHW.

*This program is for residential drop-off only
