November 2025

Cambrian Heights once again provided free pumpkins to residents and those in surrounding communities on October 25th. Another family event is planned for November with our annual Lego Contest scheduled November 15th. Details are provided on a poster in this issue. Our annual Wreath making event is also tentatively scheduled for December 5. Details for all these events will be published in our website (cambrianheightscommunity.com. and through our social media platforms.

This summer’s Cambrian Heights Farmers Market concluded October 7th and was a wonderful addition to the community and surrounding areas. We are currently looking into having a Winter market starting on Saturdays in late January if we can contract sufficient vendors. Watch for an announcement with details later this year. The Community Association looks forward to planning social events during 2026 including our annual Polar Party. We welcome new ideas and always encourage residents to volunteer some of their time to make these events possible. For information on volunteering please contact us at social@cambrianheightscommunity.com.

We wish to give a special thank you to Karen Knapik and Geoff Burrows for their summer volunteer work, especially their efforts tending to the flower beds and general area of the park boarding Northmount and Cambrian Drives that serves as a signature entrance way into our community.

Speaking of volunteering, Cambrian Heights continues to support two outdoor ice surfaces behind the Community Hall through the winter months. The rink coordinator Brent Else, works hard with his team to ensure the highest quality of the ice surfaces. That work is made easier with a team of volunteers. If you can spare some time this winter to help out please contact Brent at belse@ucalgary.ca

With the Municipal elections completed we have a new set of Ward Councillors and a Mayor with a defined agenda from the well contested election. Whether your Ward candidate won or lost we encourage everyone to build an awareness of where your Councillor stands on issues impacting our community, and ultimately the City direction with key issues of housing, services and tax rates.

Your community association remains in search of a resident volunteer to assume the job of Treasurer. It is a very important but well-defined position thanks to the organization and systems that has been established over the last 10 years. It further provides an opportunity to give back to your fellow Cambrian Heights residents and a chance to meet new people and shape the direction and activities of the community. If you would like more information, please contact us at cambrianheights@gmail.com.

A new website is in the design and development phase that will enhance its use as a community informational asset. We continue to encourage residents to register their email addresses on the website to receive bulletins dealing with the community.
