September 2026
September brings a new season of events and programs to our community, while cooler weather begins to paint our parks and surrounding green spaces with fall colours. To kick off the new season, The Social Committee has planned a family-friendly Oktoberfest BBQ on Saturday, September 26, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy outdoor games, face painting, a live band, beer garden, and traditional German-style pretzels and bratwurst. We encourage everyone to attend. It’s a great way to welcome a new season of community activity at the hall. Upcoming annual events, including Halloween activities, our Lego Contest, and the Polar Party, will be featured on our website and in future newsletter editions. For more than 15 years, our Wednesday evening yoga program has offered themes inspired by a variety of yoga traditions and movement practices. Please see the poster in this newsletter for registration details about September through to December classes. We also support square dancing programs on weekday evenings. For more information, contact our Hall Manager at chca_hall@telus.net. Our Farmers Market will continue into early fall, offering fresh produce, baked goods, prepared meals, jams, condiments, and other fresh and unique food products. The market has been a great success for both the community and vendors. As a reminder, it runs every Tuesday until October 6 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm in the Community Hall parking lot. We would also like to remind residents that the group displaying Alberta Prosperity Project materials at the market entryway is independent of the Farmers Market and Community Association and does not represent the views of either organization.
In late July, our community joined many others across Calgary in hoping for a safe outcome to the search for 11-year-old Parker. The search touched many members of our community and brought neighbours together in a shared effort to help find him and support his family. There were many residents who volunteered their time, participated in organized searches and demonstrated such genuine care and concern throughout this difficult period. While the outcome was heartbreaking, the community’s response reflected the compassion and generosity that make Cambrian Heights such a special place to live. We extend our sincere condolences to Parker’s family and friends.
Thank you to those who took the time to complete our member experience survey. The survey is now closed. We will review the feedback and provide an update later this year. Finally, we remind residents that the Community Hall is available for birthday parties, weddings, anniversaries and other social events. The hall can accommodate up to 150 guests and includes tables, chairs and a full commercial-grade kitchen. Photos and rental information are available on our website. For more details, please contact us through the website.
